Our goal is to complete the Great Loop – but slowly – over several 4 to 6-month seasons. This May, we will leave our home port near Annapolis, Maryland and travel North, up the coast to the Hudson River, through Lake Champlain to the Richelieu River. At the top of the Richelieu, we’ll take a left on the St. Lawrence and attempt the 44 miles upstream (but generally Southward) to Montreal. Once there, we will turn East into the Ottawa River and head for Canada’s capital city. From Ottawa, we will catch the Rideau Canal which will deliver us South to Lake Ontario at the town of Kingston. From there, we will cruise the East end of Ontario with a jog into the Thousand Islands before returning to the States. To end our summer, we will drop into the finger lakes by way of Oswego, NY. Summer 2026 will end in the waning days of September near the town of Clay, NY where we will tuck Nereus in for the winter. Adventures to resume in spring 2027.
Because this plan involves a boat, it is certain to change and morph into new plans. But we can always be found! We are broadcasting on AIS (Automatic Identification System). This is a safety tool that allows vessels to see one another on the water and anyone can view a ship’s position on the website Marinetraffic.com
